Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE) secures cardholder data at the point of swipe. The Solupay solution is unique in that our ISVs (Independent Software Vendors), dealers, and merchants do not have access to the decryption keys. This approach ensures that cardholder data never touches their systems or applications and is deemed "Out of Scope."
Why is this important? The PCI Security Standards Council fully supports this one principle: Any system components that simply process and transmit encrypted data are adequately isolated from the encryption and decryption environments, and have no ability to decrypt the data. They are therefore excluded from the scope of a PCI DSS review.
